School Rules

Our school rules are simple and basic and formed with the safety and welfare of the children at heart. You will be asked to accept and sign a Home School Agreement which sets out what the school will strive to do for your child and what we expect you as parents or guardians to do and what is expected of your child.

We expect all the children to exhibit consideration, respect and courtesy for other people at all times

We will ask the child to sign the contract for themselves when they enter the Junior Department.

ü      Please mark ALL items of clothing to avoid loss or confusion.

ü      Please let us know the reason for a child’s absence from school, either by telephone or in writing.

ü      Medical appointments, please inform the school in advance.

ü    Medicines can only be brought into school with the permission of the head teacher. ALL medicines must be marked and will be kept in the staff room. Parents must give written permission and dosage instructions. The head teacher will be responsible for the administration of the medicine. All staff receive yearly training in administering adrenaline from an Epipen, for children who suffer extreme allergic reactions.

ü      No sharp implements, cans or glass bottles to be brought into school.

ü      Only stud earrings are allowed, no other jewellery.

ü      Any child who leaves school early must be accompanied by an adult and the take-home book must be signed.

Arrangements for the Consideration of Complaints made under Section 23 of the Education Reform Act. (Curriculum and Religious Worship)

·          The L.E.A. is determined that all complaints are investigated speedily, efficiently, fully and fairly and that all aspects of each individual case are given proper consideration.

·          Any complaint must be addressed to the Director of Education and Children’s Services, the address can be found on page 2 of this booklet.

·          The Director of Education will:

1.       Identify all relevant complaints within the scope of Section 23

2.       Identify all urgent complaints and the procedures to consider them appropriately.

·          Any complaints concerning the provision of religious and collective worship as required by the Act, section 6-10 & 12, will be the responsibility of the Mid Glamorgan Advisory Council for Religious Education and will be directed by the Director of Education.

 

Charges and Remissions Policy.

The policy of the Governors of this school regarding charging and remission of charges is in accordance with the guidelines laid down by R.C.T Local Education Authority.

Pupils will be asked to contribute to the cost of school activities and trips. If the cost is not met in full then the school reserves the right to cancel the activity/ trip unless it fulfils criteria laid down in the National Curriculum

Wilful Damage

 It is at the discretion of the Governing Body that parents can be made   financially responsible for wilful damage to the school’s property by their children.

 

Equal Opportunities

In our school there is no place for discrimination in respect of race, creed, gender or ability. The whole curriculum is available for every child in our care.


Exclusion

If a child’s behaviour is intolerable to his/her peers and teachers, the ultimate sanction of exclusion will be considered in line with the Discipline and Behaviour policy.

 

Sex Education

The policy of the school is to answer all the children’s genuine queries simply and honestly and a level commensurate with their age and understanding.

Emphasis is placed on being socially aware and considerate, having respect for the feelings of others.

Children are encouraged to consider the effects, which their actions might have, both at home and in school.

Younger pupils in the course of their studies examine life cycles of other living creatures.

Year six pupils have a series of talks from our Health Visitor on puberty.
