Sporting Aims and Provision

We are a small school and therefore we aim to encourage every child to participate enthusiastically in a variety of sporting activities. We encourage various sports which promote team ethics. The sports teams of football, netball, cricket, rounders, athletics and swimming are aimed at Key Stage 2 children.

The provision for outdoor games at school is inadequate, we are therefore fortunate to have the local football pitch and sports hall at our disposal.

As well as studying games as a subject in the National Curriculum we also offer extra curricular coaching in football, and netball through the year and  athletics and rounders in the summer months. Mrs S. Draper is a member of the Welsh Schools Netball Association, and is our netball coach.

We are very successful in most competitions we enter. We are the current holders of the Small Schools Swimming Trophy and runners up for the Small Schools Athletics Trophy.

We rely on all the children wishing to participate in these sports, which give them a sense of pride and enormous confidence in their abilities.

We have excellent small resources for all the sports we cover together with very smart team strips.

This year we have employed a specialist P.E. coach to assist with Physical Education in Key Stage 2.
