Welcome
to the National Botanic Garden of Wales, the only national botanic garden to
be build in the new millennium. This year is our 5th birthday. In this short
time, we have developed into one of the most wonderful gardens in the UK. Take
a look around this site to find more about us. Like on Bank Holidays and culturally
important dates, the Garden hosts a lively programme of music, dance and theatre.
These can be from carol singing at Christmas time to Shakespearean plays, maypole
dances, outdoor classical concerts, Welsh choirs, jazz evenings, helicopter
rides and sheep dog displays with ducks. Over the wonderful lakes, streams,
marsh, semi-natural woodland, meadows and gardens we gave a home to over 100
types of butterfly and moth hundreds of native plant species more than 56 varieties
of birds thousands of frogs, toads and palmate newts common lizards, grass snakes
and slow worms twenty species of mammal. We are able to boast of over 180 types
of lichen, many rare types of fungi and 92 varieties of moss. We can also know
there are 26 types of snail.
