URDD SWIMMING COMPETITION FINAL

Jessica Harness Year 9
"I went to Bangor on Friday 19th January and stayed overnight to swim in Bangor Swimming Pool on the 20th. I swam in the 100m breaststroke and 100m individual medley. I swam 2 heats in the breaststroke and came 3rd in the final. I managed to come 4th in the Individual Medley. I knew a few people from previous swimming competitions. I did a personal best of 1.26 78, on the breaststroke."

Cardinal Newman Pupil Success
Andrew Thomas presently studying for his A Levels achieved a silver medal at the Welsh Indoor Athletics Championships in the high jump, and a bronze in the long jump at the same event.

Joseph Spiteri, Year 10 and Lewis Weyman, Year 11 represented the Welsh U-16 Rugby League team in Salford against Salford Schools. Another pupil, James Markey Year 10 also played but was unavailable for the photograph. The Welsh team lost 30-24 but both Lewis and James scored tries.

Cara Dowden, Year 9 is a promising middle/long distance runner She won the Welsh Schools Championships; was the 3rd Welsh girl to finish in the Reebock Inter Counties (18th overall); won the Nos Glan run; and has just been selected to run for the South Wales Region at Woolaton Park, Nottingham on Sat. 10 Feb.

Brother and sister, Greg and Louise Finlay both achieved silver medals in the shot at the Welsh Indoor Athletics Championships.
