Role and Responsibilities

Both Nichola and Rachel are qualified HLTAs and have been used in a variety of ways. At present, PPA time is covered by a qualified teacher but next year will be covered by our HLTA utilising in KS2 specific skills in PE/games and Welsh.

Both Nichola and Rachel have been used as supply cover to cover classes when teachers are on courses.

Nichola is also used to provide weekly non-contact time for the Deputy Head. This release time is prepared for by Nichola and marked by her. The work planned follows discussions with the class teacher and subject co-ordinator.

Aspects of Good Practice

Observation of teaching by head has taken place. The lessons were well controlled, planned appropriate to the pupil’s abilities and well structured. The children demonstrated a good understanding gained from previous lessons and were happy to contribute during lessons. The use of HLTA to deliver specific subjects (where they have a strength) is in my opinion good use of resources.
