School Govenor Support

What do we do?
The governors support service provides a range of support services to governors, headteachers, school staff and colleagues within the Education Service. We hope that our contribution to supporting governors at our schools, which in turn, help them to make a positive contribution to the effective management of our schools and the raising of standards in Rhondda Cynon Taf.

What have we achieved?

	Delivered comprehensive training programmes, with over 130 presentations and over 2,600 governor attendances
	Additionally, delivered, on behalf of the Department for Education and Skills/National Assembly for Wales, training to nearly 300 governors to prepare for the introduction of performance management
	Undertaken a “customer” survey seeking views of governors on our service and acted upon suggestions as to how our service can improve
	Undertaken an analysis of governors’ training needs and reflected those needs in our training and development programme
	Developed a web site to offer on line support for our governors: www.rctednet.net/governordevelopment
	Established criteria, and a new process, for the appointment of LEA governors
	Facilitated 22 governing body self review sessions
