Music Service

What do we do?
RCT Music Service provides
specialist instrumental, vocal and curriculum tuition
to the Council’s
schools. We also provide a range of extra curricular
activities in various centres that give pupils the
opportunity to take part in a number of ensembles.
What have we achieved?
 |
Provided
free tuition to over 3,000 pupils in RCT schools
on a range of instruments including violin, viola,
cello, double bass, harp, guitar, piano, flute,
clarinet, oboe, bassoon, recorder, saxophone, trumpet,
cornet, trombone, tuba, tenor horn, euphonium and
voice. |
 |
Our ‘access
for all’ policy has provided free instrumental
loans to many pupils. |
 |
Pupils
are provided with opportunities to take part in
orchestras, bands, choirs and other smaller groups.
This included singing and playing for the recent
Royal Visit to the Rhondda |
 |
Specialist
residential courses for experienced and young learners
have continued throughout the year, many of which
are over subscribed |
 |
·A production
of the ‘Brundibar’ opera in the Parc
and Dare theatre. This was a joint project with
Spectacle Theatre and involved pupils from all
parts of the County |
 |
·We work
closely with our neighbouring music services so
pupils can attend Four Counties ensembles and courses
which culminate in prestigious performances in
such venues as St David’s Hall in Cardiff. |
 |
·Introduced
a monitoring and evaluation process to ensure the
quality of our provision maintained and enhanced. |
 |
Instigated
a consultation process with schools on future developments. |
